One of our main posse members, Iron Man, is on an extended stay in Charleston and eating up all the good grub in town in the meantime. Should take him through at least 2024, but I expect he will hit up all the BBQ places very soon. He filed this report after our discussion on Rodney’s previous Tour De Q in Hemingway and then eating from his current Charleston location:
“Yes, the pictures are from Rodney’s. I would give this place a 9.5 out of 10. The Q was tender and tasty. The bake beans were as good as I’ve ever had. The puppies were big and fried to perfection. The potato salad was exactly like my mom’s, but with a hint of onion. The banana pudding was the best I’ve ever had at a BBQ joint and it’s not even close. The only issue was the slaw was shredded…I prefer finely chopped. Sir…this is a destination Q and is likely the best in SC. (They didn’t offer hash and rice so Maurice’s remains the hash and rice King)“
Well, this about about says it all, but the best in SC? Well, not exactly like being the best in NC, but this is some attribute considering IM’s enormous aptitude for fine Q. I am going to have to visit Iron Man and Charleston right after Xmas for a tasting and a whirl myself. Stay tuned!!!
