After our trek along the New River trail our next venture was the Virginia Creeper Trail. We stayed in Abingdon, VA, so we could catch the shuttle to the trail head at White Top Mountain the next day. Started our evening with some beverages at the Wolf Hills Brewery. Worked our way through a few of their crafties and then headed to our destination eatery which we had reservations. Wow, this place was historic and had been in place over 200 years. Has fed the likes of President Andrew Jackson and King Louis of France. Pretty heady stuff for sure and you might want to read about it on their website. Anyway since it was good enough for Andy and Louie, than I felt sure that it would work fine for Douglas and moi. We could not have been more on target with this choice. It was terrific. Started out with some draft Guinness and it went uphill from here. Got the Wienerschnitzel served with spaetzli and red cabbage. Could not have made a better choice. It was magnifico!!! This listing is shooting straight to the “Great” category of GoodQandEats for sure. Have to say I thought our rides would be the highlight of the trip, but this is right up there with these trails in terms of delight. So if you are in the vicinity, I heartily recommend this restaurant!
