I’d wanted to stop here for years on trips toward the Georgia line, but the timing was never right for lunch or din din. I finally made it when I biked the Augusta Canal Trail, and I’m glad I did. I ordered a chopped BBQ sandwich—different from what I expected, but I enjoyed it, even though it only came with a creamy white slaw. With a generous pour of their vinegar sauce, it didn’t matter much. The collards were a solid side, and I washed everything down with a half-and-half. I would’ve stayed longer, but I didn’t want to overdo it before getting on the trail. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a stop.
(The Augusta Canal Trail is really nice and is 8-10 miles. Follows a pre 20th century canal and includes historic sites. Don’t miss out on this treat either!!!)
