I was lucky since this venue was next to my nightly accommodations. Both quite close to the Chickamauga battlefield site that I was visiting the next day. Quite an interesting place to say the least. The restaurant had two sides, one side featured live country music and the other the more mundane area populated by the old folks. Guess where they put me? Guess who moved. Anyway, the food was good and certainly much better than what was served over a hundred and fifty years ago, which was probably along the lines of hardtack. I opted for the sliced brisket sandwich on a toasted bun with a Texas-style sauce. My sides were sweet potato fries and collards. Also, guess who had one or was that two of those tall boy lager brews? Needless to say, I was in bliss and hope you will be too when you visit.
Next day was again a hot one. The difference between Chickamauga and Shiloh was stunning. Running, walkers, bikers, and commuters were everywhere. You have to get off the main boulevard to get the sense of history that abounds. Once you figure that out, you pretty much have a more peaceful journey that is quite a contrast to the hellhole that our ancestors experienced. God bless them!
