Location/Directions

We returned back to New Bern on a quest to search out my Swiss ancestors, who arrived with the colony in 1710, only to be almost completely wiped out by the locals in 1711. However, we needed nourishment before our trek to the historical library for research. We decided on Lawson’s on the Creek for its fantastic view of the Neuse River. Again, due to the heat, we sat inside but had a great view of the waterway. In the spirit of the day, I had the Front Street Sandwich: Corn Beef and SWISS cheese with slaw. Accompanied by a side of tater salad and, of course, H&H Tea. All were good and gave me the energy to pursue activities with dusty books for a few hours! If you find yourself in Bear City, do yourself a favor and stop by this place for a nice view while devouring some good vittles and/or having a crafty or two.
