The next day, without the touring bus, we headed out to explore Yorktown on our own. After exploring the battlefield and museums on foot, we were famished and needed a redoubt of our own. It came in the form of the Yorktown Pub right on the river. I imagined my illustrious ancestors swilling ale from this location or near it. So I had to raise a tankard or in this case, a jar or two of ale in their honor. We had the honest feast of a burger and fries. All went well, and much to Annabelle’s chagrin, it gave me the energy to continue my trek around the field of honor for another hour or two and see where the world turned upside down!
