We have been going to Pawley’s Island for at least twenty or so years, give or take, for a working man’s let down the hair and howl at the moon long weekend. This changed with our rewiring activities; our gals were added to these festivities, and the days elongated. Some things changed, haha, but certainly not the food for sure. Pawley’s and surrounding areas still serve as a high mark for seafood delights. None of these currently has dazzled more than the Bistro 217. Last year it was great, but this year proved Magnifico! We went twice for dinner during the week. Most of the party opted for the superb local flounder for at least one of the nights. Not being a fish guy, I had to surf to something else. The first time around, I opted for the Warm Pistachio Encrusted Goat Cheese Salad and followed up with the Fried Green Tomatoes and Oysters. What a duet that I thought that could not be beaten. However, the second time around, I had the Sauteed Mussels with Duck Confit Eggroll. Heavens to Betsy, this was the bomb for sure and had me crying for more. Good gracious, if you are in this area, you need to give this place a whirl, but you better have reservations
