On the way to the Neuse River trail had a hankering for some Q, and lo and behold, a Q joint somehow miraculously appeared on the road ahead of me. Well, it didn’t exactly happen this way, but it makes for a good story. Anyway, I arrived at Stubbs and Son a little before the feeding frenzy hour began at noon. Glad I did because this stuff is the real deal. Had pretty much the usual fare of sandwiches, puppies, and okra. And let us not forget the way above-average half and half. The hefty majestic sandwich was of the eastern bent of whole pork, topped with white slaw, and was delicious. The dachshund-shaped puppies were above par, while the hot as-heck okra was the bomb. What a treat! The unfortunate part was that I had to start riding in an hour. Woe was me on this biking journey!   As to you, others who happen to wander near Sandford. This place, as said, is the real deal and needs to be on your stop list! But don’t plan any exercise after this feast!!!

(As to Neuse River Greenway, what can I say except that it is the best greenway in the Carolinas. Lots of excellent and varying scenery. All the colored fall foliage was heaven made for spectacular viewing! I got about sixty in, but about 8 of this was getting lost on the Crabtree Valley trail. So beware when going through Anderson Point Park that you stay glued to the trail and not meander down another like yours truly. But, heck, what a trip, and I can’t wait to return in the spring!)
