So how does the saying go… Never play cards with a man named Doc, never eat at a place called Mom’s, etc… So does this hold true for a place called Grandma’s? Yeah, it might and I was thinking just that same thought while be carted to this place. So how did I get into this predicament? Well was in town doing a little bidness with the RB boys and we needed a close lunch spot. Close was the operative word since Greenville is becoming a hotspot for some really fine restaurants. However, this was the spot of choice, so there I was wondering if this place would work. They said it was a meat and three and that it was for sure. It’s ordering style that was similar to a K&W by much more homey. I had the baked chicken, black eye peas, broccoli casserole, rice and gravy, plus half-half tea. I was somewhat skeptical since it did not look particularly yummy. However, after the third bite I was sold. It was quite good and interestingly enough it tasted just like my own Nannie’s food that she cooked and served to her multitude of youngins many a moon ago. Frankly I was astounded that it could be that close. Nevertheless I did not ponder it too long since I was in a feeding frenzy. Should have savored it more and let the memories of bygone days percolate. No doubt will return upon my next trip down I-85 and will do just that. You should too!
