Made a trek down to Pinehurst/Southern Pines for a journey into the past.  Used to live there in late 70’s. Took the wife and the bike and made the two or so hour sojourn to the sandhills.  Did the supposed greenway while she shopped out outlets.  Both were somewhat of a bust.  The outlet she wanted to visit had shedded its past for not so inexpensive golf attire.  As to the biking that greenway is not very well marked and I was constantly lost even using traillink.  Not that this is hard for me to do since no doubt I am related to the acclaimed “Wrong Way Feldman”.  However, had a pretty doggone time anyway on some trails that bordered the greenway that made things quite interesting.  After about two hours of this wandering I was somehow able to meet up with my better half at the rendezvous point and we proceeded to lunch.  Had a nice place picked out not to far away.  Good thing too since my stomach was already starting to eat my backbone.  Nice little place that I thought was near that “Damn Yankee” restaurant from another bygone era.  In any place glad we stopped by. Didn’t have my glasses so I just ordered the Carolina Reuben. Yikes did not realize it was a turkified Reuben until it arrived. About freaked out cause I hate turkey Reuben’s, usually bland as heck.  Now…. however…. this one was spectacular, smoked turkey breast, swiss cheese, and thousand served on a panni.   Hey this really worked especially with the slaw and half/half  ice tea. Nothing could have been finer than to eat this Carolina of a sandwich! Anyway, not sure I will be going back their down memory lane, but if you are in the territory I would highly recommend!
