Uhmm… chain barbecue… could I possibly say anything good? By now y’all know my feelings about these sorts of things, yep generally pretty mediocre. Well I am glad in this case to say something a little bit different. So let’s get to it. Not long ago after doing some bike cruzin with Dandy Doug we had the lunch shakes for some Q near our trail. So we decided to Google up some choices. This one near University City came up as being close by. We decided to give it a go. When we got there lo and behold it appeared closed. Bummer! However, we noticed some activity out back and decided to investigate. Found a bunch of folks sitting around picnic tables eating barbecue. As we hungrily gazed on a gentleman approached and we asked when they would be open. He stated that this was a new location and was a week or so away from opening and they were doing employee orientation. More importantly he invited us to chow down with them. We did not have to be asked twice and jumped in and grabbed some pulled pork sandwiches with slaw and baked beans. The meal was quite scrumptious to say the least. While eating our host, Dave, explained he would be the new manager of this location and gave us a rundown on City Barbecue. Appears this chain originated out of Ohio of all places. Nevertheless they do know how to cook good Q on site and just as important they know something about southern hospitality! So if you are in the neighborhood at this location or others my suggestion would be to give it a whirl!
